Design and Implementation

Qalius designs and deploys a configuration of AWS services tailored to your application’s requirements and aligned with best practices from the AWS Well-Architected Framework. The scope spans network architecture and firewalls, authentication and authorization, encryption, redundancy for availability, and scaling for responsiveness to traffic levels. If a landing zone is required, Qalius deploys multi-account governance incorporating AWS best practices. The entire solution is codified in Terraform for version-controlled, auditable, and repeatable deployments.

Documentation

The AWS services configuration is documented in detail to support PHIPA compliance reviews, privacy impact assessments, third-party security assessments, and authority-to-operate processes. The documentation package typically includes architectural diagrams, network access control lists, documentation of edge protections, and maps showing where data with private and PHI classifications is located. The documentation package includes decisions on operational considerations such as how backups and patching will be managed. The documentation gives stakeholders in privacy and compliance roles clear visibility into how the solution protects PHI and complies with the legal requirements of PHIPA.

Application Installation

Qalius and your team collaborate to install the application into the designed environment: Qalius provides expertise in AWS services, and your team provides expertise on the application. Automated tooling facilitates database migrations and secure, encrypted staging of application data. When required, Qalius implements stress testing with synthetic traffic to confirm scaling behavior and application latency under load.

Prerequisites and Scope

This engagement is designed for web applications that process personal health information and require compliance with Ontario PHIPA.
