You pay by the hour for this hardened Oracle Linux 9 image with a security agent. Pricing is usage-based, so charges match the hours each instance runs. The many options are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, spanning general purpose, compute, memory, storage, GPU, and high-performance families across a range of sizes. Larger or more capable instance types carry higher hourly rates. You choose the instance type that fits your workload, and the software rate applies on top of the standard AWS infrastructure cost.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and what is billed separately by AWS?
The hourly rate covers the hardened Oracle Linux 9 image and its security agent for the chosen EC2 instance type. AWS bills the underlying compute, storage, and network separately at standard rates. Your invoice shows the software charge on top of the infrastructure cost.
Am I charged the software rate when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running hours only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is off. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How is my cost affected if I switch to a larger instance type?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. Larger or more capable types carry higher hourly software rates. Switching means you stop billing at the old type's rate and start at the new type's rate. Only running hours on each type are charged.
