You pay by the hour for each running instance, with no upfront commitment. Pricing is usage-based, so charges accrue only while an instance runs. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type that bundles Oracle Linux 9 with a security agent. The hourly rate scales with the instance you choose. Smaller shared-core types like t2 and t3 sit at one end, while compute-, memory-, storage-, and accelerator-optimized families (C, M, R, G, P, I, X, U, and others) and bare-metal sizes fall higher. You select the instance that matches your workload; the software runs on top of it.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to for this product?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick. The rate covers Oracle Linux 9 with the bundled security agent running on that instance for one hour. Each running instance meters separately, so two instances of the same type bill as two units.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only while an instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance stops accruing the hourly software fee. You may still pay separate AWS charges for attached storage and other resources, but the software license meters running time only.
How does my cost change if I move to a larger instance type?
You are billed at the hourly rate tied to the instance type you run. Switching to a different family or size applies that type's rate to hours run. The change is not automatic; you choose the instance. Smaller shared-core types bill lower than optimized or bare-metal sizes.
