POI footprints and spatial hierarchy metadata for over 9 million places.
Long description:
Geometry - Entire US
SafeGraph’s Geometry data provides POI footprints and spatial hierarchy metadata for over 9 million places. They map the size and area of physical locations for the POIs in their datasets using polygons. This includes data for understanding location boundaries and relationships. Available for POIs globally. Covers locations for major retail chains, local businesses, convenience stores, hotels, airports, schools, hospitals & more.
Location name
Postal code
Latitude and longitude
Polygon or shape of place, formatted as Well-Known Text (WKT)
Polygon class
Building height
Covers locations for public and private companies, major retail chains, local businesses, convenience stores, hotels, airports, schools, hospitals & more. Dataset contains more than 9.6MM United States POI across all categories and over 5,500 recognized brands.
Noisy locations are removed (ATMs, Redbox kiosks, etc.). Closed stores and irrelevant businesses (like home-based LLCs with no employees) are filtered out.
Even though our documentation site includes detailed information for all of our products, this product listing specifically only includes the Geometry data set
Additional Information
All SafeGraph POI-based datasets utilize Placekey as the primary key and are formatted as delimited CSVs.
SafeGraph updates the dataset every month with the past month's openings and closings.
Dataset covers all of US.
Dataset is delivered as set of CSV files.
Example Fields
Column Name | Description | Type | Example
----|-----
placekey | Unique and persistent ID tied to this POI. See the Places Manual for details on placekey design. | String | 222-222@222-222-222
safegraph_place_id | Unique and persistent ID tied to this POI (to be retired in favor of placekey). | String | sg:64d0ee4695af4ab4906fe82997ead9ff
parent_placekey | If place is a tenant / sub-store inside a larger place (e.g. mall, airport, stadium), this lists the placekey of the parent place, otherwise null. See more on parent-child relationships in the Places Manual| String | 223-223@222-222-222
location_name | The name of the place of interest. | String | Salinas Valley Ford Lincoln
safegraph_brand_ids | Unique and consistent ID that represents this specific brand. | List | SG_BRAND_80ca06abfa1a5104af9a770f485dad07, SG_BRAND_aa45997477591e27601c436bcb228d6f
Brands | If this POI is an instance of a larger brand that we have explicitly identified, this column will contain that brand name. This is an easy way to, for example, unambiguously select Target stores in the USA. A POI may have multiple brands, as in a new car dealership that sells Ford and Lincoln cars. | List | Ford, Lincoln

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
This listing uses one pricing dimension: Product Access (Units), a contract-based subscription that grants access to the building footprint dataset. You commit to a term and pay a single annual fee rather than per-use charges. Your fee reflects the number of location rows, the attribute columns you select, and the usage rights and delivery terms you define. Data is delivered monthly to your chosen environment. Because there is one access dimension, pricing scales with the size and scope of the custom dataset you request rather than through separate tiers or instance sizes.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What determines the size of my annual fee for this dataset?
Your fee reflects three factors combined: the number of location rows you buy, the premium attribute columns you add, and the usage rights and delivery terms you define. These choices multiply into one custom annual price. More rows or more attribute columns raise the fee; simpler needs lower it.
Is this billed per use, or as one flat annual charge?
You pay one flat annual fee for a custom dataset, not per-use charges. There are no pay-per-use policies or metered usage terms. The single fee covers your defined mix of rows, columns, and usage rights for the contract term, with monthly data delivery included.
What is included with the dataset, and what data is excluded?
You get monthly data delivery, a Customer Success Manager, and location attributes like coordinates, categories, and open/close dates. The dataset covers physical places only. It excludes individual consumer data, device-level signals, and foot traffic information of any kind.
