After the EC2 instance is started, you can access the RStudio Server with its public IP address. The default username is ruser and the password is the EC2 instance ID that has the form of i-0c7xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
The SSH username is ubuntu, and the SSH port is 22.
HTTPS has been enabled to ensure all data between your browser and our servers is encrypted, with all HTTP traffic now automatically redirected to HTTPS for secure communications.
The HTTPS connection uses a self-signed certificate, requiring you to accept it in your browser to proceed securely. Additionally, if the IP address changes, a new self-signed certificate will be generated, and you may need to accept the new certificate to maintain a secure connection.

RStudio Server with support by Elm Computing (ARM)
You pay by the hour for RStudio Server running on ARM-based EC2 instances. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, so pricing scales with the hardware you pick. Options span several instance families: general-purpose (m7g, m7gd, t4g), compute-optimized (c7g, c7gd, c7gn), memory-optimized (r7g, r7gd), and high-performance compute (hpc7g). Within each family, sizes range from small (medium, nano, micro) up to large multi-xlarge and bare-metal instances. Larger sizes carry higher hourly rates. Software support is included in every hourly rate. You choose the instance that fits your workload and budget.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for a chosen instance type?
One unit is one hour of running one ARM-based EC2 instance of that type with RStudio Server preinstalled. It bundles thousands of R packages, a preconfigured user account, and vendor software support. Billing meters each running hour of the instance you launch.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. When you stop the instance, software charges stop accruing. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate from this listing's software rate.
What drives my total cost across these instance options?
You select one instance type, and its hourly rate drives the software cost. Larger sizes and specialized families carry higher hourly rates. The software charge is added to the underlying AWS instance charge, and both accrue per running hour on the same invoice.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
