    Overview

This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for the deployment of the application and AMI support and compliance.

Moodle Learning Management System by Code Creator provides a ready to launch self hosted learning management system on AWS for schools, training teams, businesses, nonprofits, and organizations that want control of their learning platform and data. Version 6.2 includes Moodle 5.2.1 on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with Docker based services, MariaDB, Redis, Nginx, automated Moodle cron, backup tools, status tools, and automated buyer first boot.

On first launch, the AMI automatically creates a fresh Moodle database, generates a unique administrator password, configures the instance public IP, starts the application stack, and writes the customer login information to FIRST_LOGIN.txt. This reduces manual deployment work and eliminates shared default Moodle passwords.

The Moodle web application is available on port 80. SSH administration uses port 22 with the username ubuntu. MariaDB and Redis remain internal and are not intended for public exposure. Buyers should restrict SSH access to trusted IP addresses and configure HTTPS for production or internet facing deployments.

Code Creator provides the preconfigured AMI, automated deployment workflow, operational helper commands, backup tooling, security configuration, and Marketplace support.

    Highlights

    • Automated first boot creates a fresh Moodle environment and unique administrator credentials
    • Self hosted Moodle on Ubuntu 26.04 with Docker MariaDB Redis and Nginx
    • Built in status backup restart and help commands simplify day to day administration

    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for this pre-built Moodle image, billed by the AWS EC2 instance type you run. There are no tiers or bundles. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific instance size, and your cost scales with the compute power you choose. Smaller instances suit light workloads, while larger instances handle heavier demand. You can pick from several instance families, including general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU options. Your hourly rate depends on the instance you select. You can change instance types as your needs shift, since billing follows actual usage.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

The hourly rate covers the pre-built Moodle software image on the EC2 instance type you choose. It does not include the underlying AWS compute, storage, or data transfer charges. Those AWS infrastructure costs are billed separately by AWS based on the instance you run.
The software fee meters running instance-hours only. When you stop the instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. Note that stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate AWS charges, not the software license.
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, which sets the CPU, memory, and specialization. General-purpose types balance resources. Compute-optimized types favor processing. Memory-optimized types favor RAM. Storage-optimized types favor disk. GPU types add graphics processing. Your hourly rate follows the type you select.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
