See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so your rate depends on the compute, memory, and CPU profile you select. Options span burstable t2 and t3 families, general-purpose m3, m4, and m5 families, compute-optimized c3, c4, and c5 families, and memory-optimized r3, r4, and r5 families. Smaller instances like t3.nano and t3.micro suit light workloads, while larger sizes like t2.2xlarge handle heavier demand. You pay only for the hours each instance runs, plus AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for each hourly instance rate I choose?
Each rate maps to one running EC2 instance of the matching type. The instance type sets your virtual CPU count, memory, and performance profile. For example, burstable t-family instances suit light use, while c-family instances favor compute. You run the Natural Language CLI Ubuntu 24.04 image on whichever type you launch.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges meter running instance-hours. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software rate. However, AWS may still bill underlying infrastructure such as attached storage while the instance sits stopped. You pay the software rate only for the hours each instance actually runs.
What is included with the maintenance support in this listing?
The listing bundles the Natural Language CLI on Ubuntu 24.04 with vendor maintenance support. The vendor provides monitoring, updates, and performance tuning across cloud environments. Support applies regardless of which instance type you select, since the hourly rate covers software on the running instance.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
