Overview
NaDIng (Natural Disasters Forecasting) is an AI-powered risk prediction engine designed to anticipate the impact of natural disasters - starting with floods - on critical infrastructure. Developed using AWS and SAP BTP technologies, NaDIng integrates real-time data from multiple meteorological, hydrological, and geospatial sources to calculate personalized flood risk scores for geographically distributed assets.
The system consolidates precipitation forecasts (DWD ICON, AEMET), flood hazard maps (CNIG), satellite-based alerts (Copernicus), and field observations to generate a dynamic and multi-factor risk index. When a risk exceeds a defined threshold, NaDIng invokes a generative AI model (via AWS Bedrock or SAP AI Core) to generate tailored preventive and reactive action plans, drawing from internal operational procedures and document repositories.
NaDIng is accessible via a user-friendly web interface built on SAP Work Zone and offers native integration with SAP systems (e.g., S/4HANA), allowing seamless use of existing asset master data and maintenance records.
Originally developed for electrical infrastructure, NaDIng’s modular architecture is scalable to other domains (e.g., water management, transport, oil & gas) and to other natural hazards such as wildfires, storms, or earthquakes.
With NaDIng, organizations move beyond generic weather alerts to real-time, asset-specific insights that enable smarter, faster decisions - and operationalize resilience.
