Overview
Open-source Envoy Gateway is a Kubernetes-native API gateway built on Envoy Proxy, designed to manage ingress traffic, APIs, and service-to-service communication in cloud-native environments.
Deploying and configuring Envoy Gateway from scratch can be time-consuming and complex due to evolving APIs, dependency management, and production readiness requirements.

Helm chart
Helm charts are Kubernetes YAML manifests combined into a single package that can be installed on Kubernetes clusters. The containerized application is deployed on a cluster by running a single Helm install command to install the seller-provided Helm chart.

Usage instructions
IMESH Envoy Gateway OSS is deployed as a Helm chart on an existing Amazon EKS cluster. Version 1.7.2 has been validated on Amazon EKS 1.36.
Prerequisites
- Active AWS Marketplace subscription
- Existing Amazon EKS cluster
- AWS CLI, kubectl, and Helm installed
- AWS permissions to access EKS and pull Marketplace artifacts
- No IRSA is required for the standard deployment
1. Configure EKS access
Verify required worker nodes are Ready.
2. Authenticate to the registry
Confirm Login Succeeded.
3. Install
Verify:
helm status eg -n envoy-gateway-system kubectl get pods -n envoy-gateway-system kubectl get deployments -n envoy-gateway-systemRequired pods should become Running and Ready.
4. Configure and verify Gateway traffic
Configure standard Kubernetes Gateway API resources: GatewayClass, Gateway, and HTTPRoute.
The standard GatewayClass name is envoy-gateway.
Verify:
kubectl get gatewayclass kubectl get gateway -A kubectl get httproute -AFor troubleshooting:
kubectl describe gateway <GATEWAY_NAME> -n <NAMESPACE> kubectl describe httproute <ROUTE_NAME> -n <NAMESPACE>Confirm the Gateway is Accepted/Programmed and the HTTPRoute is Accepted.
5. Monitoring
Envoy Gateway exposes Prometheus-compatible metrics. No Amazon CloudWatch resources are created automatically.
6. Security and data
IMESH Envoy Gateway OSS does not persist customer application data or send application data, telemetry, or diagnostics to IMESH.
No IMESH API keys, passwords, or license keys are required.
TLS certificates and private keys are stored as Kubernetes Secrets. Customers are responsible for securing and rotating certificates and Secrets.
7. Upgrade
Back up current Helm values:
