    Workload Modernisation & Engineering Services

     Info
Application re-architecture from legacy monolith to cloud-native using AWS App2Container, Amazon EKS, AWS Lambda, and Amazon API Gateway — containerisation, microservices, serverless, and CI/CD pipeline delivery on AWS.

    Overview

This professional service helps customers achieve specific outcomes related to the modernisation of applications running on AWS Cloud by re-architecting legacy workloads — including those running on Microsoft Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2019, available on AWS Marketplace as base AMIs — into container-based or serverless architectures using AWS App2Container, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), AWS Lambda, and Amazon API Gateway. Each engagement begins with an application portfolio assessment: code complexity analysis, dependency mapping, strangler-fig pattern planning, and a re-architecture roadmap scoped to customer velocity and risk appetite. Containerisation candidates are lifted from Microsoft Windows Server or Amazon Linux 2 AMI compute using AWS App2Container, packaged as Docker images, pushed to Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR), and deployed to Amazon EKS clusters with Kubernetes-native autoscaling, health checks, and rolling deployment strategies.

The CI/CD backbone is built on AWS CodePipeline orchestrating AWS CodeBuild for build and test and AWS CodeDeploy for deployment, delivering fully automated and auditable software delivery pipelines from code commit to production. Serverless microservices are implemented using AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway for synchronous API flows, while event-driven workloads are decoupled using Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, and Amazon EventBridge. Data tier modernisation moves workloads from monolithic relational databases to Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, or Amazon DynamoDB, with AWS Step Functions coordinating multi-step business process workflows that previously relied on procedural application code.

Customers using this service are responsible for AWS infrastructure costs incurred in their AWS accounts — including Amazon EKS, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon RDS, Amazon DynamoDB, and related AWS services — separately from the service fee transacted through AWS Marketplace. This service suits organisations with 10 or more legacy applications seeking a structured modernisation programme that delivers cloud-native architecture, automated CI/CD delivery, and reduced operational overhead on AWS.

    Highlights

    • Legacy application containerisation using AWS App2Container and Amazon EKS — Windows Server and Linux workloads packaged to Amazon ECR and deployed as Kubernetes-native services with autoscaling and rolling deployment strategies
    • Fully automated CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, and AWS CodeDeploy — auditable, repeatable software delivery from code commit to AWS production environments
    • Serverless and event-driven microservices using AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon SQS, and Amazon EventBridge — decoupled architecture patterns replacing procedural monolithic application code
