This listing runs Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on EKS 1.33 worker nodes and carries no software license fee. You pay per hour based on the AWS EC2 instance type you choose to run. Each dimension maps to one instance type, billed by the hour. The many options cover general purpose, compute, memory, storage, and accelerated GPU families across a wide range of sizes. Pricing scales with the size and capability of the instance you select. You pick instance types to match your workload, so cost depends on your chosen hardware rather than tiered plans.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover when I run this listing?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. The rate covers the Ubuntu 24.04 image on your EKS 1.33 worker node. You add the underlying AWS compute cost separately. Larger instance families and sizes carry higher hourly rates.
Am I charged for instances that are stopped or powered off?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. When an instance is stopped, no software charge accrues for that node. Underlying AWS storage tied to the instance may still apply. You pay again once the node restarts and resumes running.
Does the listing itself add a license fee on top of the hourly rate?
No. The Ubuntu image carries no software license fee. Ubuntu is free from license fees regardless of how many images you run. Your cost reflects the AWS EC2 instance hours you consume, not a separate charge for the operating system.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
