This Red Hat 10 virtual machine image is fully preconfigured with Foundation Security's Level 1 hardening framework and deploys in minutes. It eliminates the weeks of manual security configuration typically required with a baseline operating system and delivers a thoroughly tested secure foundation out of the box
Foundation Level 1 is our in-house security baseline, developed by our team of compliance and security experts to protect workloads from common vulnerabilities and misconfigurations. Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for a hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 image, billed per running instance. Pricing is not tiered by feature set. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your hourly rate depends on the instance you choose. Smaller instances like t2.nano cost less per hour, while larger compute, memory, storage, and GPU instances such as p5.48xlarge or u7in-32tb.224xlarge cost more. You select the instance that fits your workload and scale by launching more instances or larger sizes. The security hardening applies uniformly across all instance types.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 software license on your chosen instance type. It does not include the underlying AWS compute charge for that EC2 instance, which AWS bills separately. You pay both the software rate and the AWS infrastructure rate.
The software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for the stopped instance. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Each image applies security controls built on industry hardening frameworks such as STIG and NIST. The hardening is identical across every instance type. Your instance choice affects only compute, memory, storage, and GPU capacity, not the security configuration.

Usage instructions
Quick Start
Launch your Red Hat 10 instance and connect using SSH on port 22. The default username is ec2-user.
Example: ssh -i /path/to/your-key.pem ec2-user@<public-ip-address>

If you connect over SSH, configure your security group to allow access only from your trusted IP address.
This image has been fully hardened with Foundation Level 1 security controls applied and validated before release. No additional hardening steps are required after launch.
Once connected, you can immediately begin installing and running your applications on a secure, hardened baseline.
