PostgreSQL 16 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, hardened to the CIS Benchmark Level 1 with a documented exceptions list. Connections are TLS 1.2+ only with SCRAM-SHA-256 passwords, generated uniquely for each instance on first boot. pgAudit records schema and role changes, and encrypted pgBackRest backups to your own S3 bucket can be turned on with one command. PostgreSQL is open-source software released under the PostgreSQL License; charges cover hardening, configuration, maintenance and support by IOanyT Innovations.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you launch. The 24 options span four instance families: t3 for general burstable workloads, m6i and m7i for balanced compute and memory, and r6i and r7i for memory-focused workloads. Within each family, sizes range from large up to 8xlarge (t3 runs medium through 2xlarge). Larger sizes give more CPU and memory, so the hourly rate rises with the instance you pick. All options run the same hardened PostgreSQL 16 software; you choose the hardware that fits your performance needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for each hourly instance charge, and what runs on it?
Each hourly charge covers one running EC2 instance of your chosen size. On it runs PostgreSQL 16 on Ubuntu 24.04, hardened to CIS Benchmark Level 1. The instance generates unique passwords and a TLS certificate on first boot, with no manual setup required.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume. Opt-in encrypted backups also store data in your own S3 bucket, billed by AWS separately.
If I move to a different instance size, how does that affect billing?
You pay the hourly rate for whichever size runs at the time. Switching size means launching a new instance and restoring your data onto it. The new instance bills at its own hourly rate. The old instance stops accruing charges once terminated.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
Initial release: PostgreSQL 16 on CIS Level 1 hardened Ubuntu 24.04 with TLS-only access, pgAudit and opt-in encrypted S3 backups.
Additional details
Usage instructions
Launch the instance. Allow TCP 22 and 5432 from your own network only (never 0.0.0.0/0).
Wait about 2 minutes for first-boot setup.
SSH as ubuntu and run: sudo cat /root/ioanyt-credentials.txt
Admin access on the instance: sudo -u postgres psql (the postgres OS account has no login shell by design)
Change database passwords with psql's \password command (sends a hashed verifier). Avoid ALTER ROLE ... PASSWORD in plain SQL: pgAudit logs role statements.
Optional backups: attach an IAM role with access to your S3 bucket, then run: sudo ioanyt-enable-backups <bucket-name>. Keep backup_passphrase from /root/ioanyt-credentials.txt somewhere safe: backups cannot be restored without it.
