What is our primary use case?
Carahsoft is not a product but a distributor that sells various types of software. I have been working with Carahsoft primarily for selling to the US government because they have a GSA or General Services Administration contract, making it easier and faster to sell to the government. Additionally, large corporations can buy software through Carahsoft to avoid lengthy procurement cycles due to Carahsoft's marketplace.
How has it helped my organization?
Carahsoft has helped us primarily in selling to the US government efficiently and swiftly. Their marketplace allows large companies to purchase without going through the usual procurement cycle and RFP processes, which has worked out well and supported Carahsoft's growth.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of using Carahsoft is their ability to sell to the US government through their General Services Administration contract, which simplifies the process of entering contracts with the government.
What needs improvement?
Carahsoft is a distributor and reseller, which means we need to give them a margin on the software sold, thereby reducing our revenue.Â
It would be beneficial if Carahsoft enabled their people to deliver the software and similar services, as they currently do not provide these. They are strictly a distributor.

I have been using Carahsoft for about twelve to 13 years.

Carahsoft is a stable organization. They have been growing year over year, and I do not foresee them going anywhere.

Carahsoft scales well as they are a distributor with no products of their own that could present scalability issues.

The support team at Carahsoft varies in proficiency depending on how well the software vendor has enabled them. They are not bad overall, although they may struggle if not sufficiently enabled, but they are generally fine.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Carahsoft's pricing is determined by the software vendors' pricing. If a vendor provides a margin, the prices remain the same as set by the software company. If no margin is provided, Carahsoft may have to mark up the price, thus increasing costs for the end customer.
What other advice do I have?
Carahsoft is strategic, and it is important for organizations considering them to understand their requirements and how Carahsoft fits in. They work well with partners and organizations and are a good company to work with if you have the need.
