Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the software running on a Windows Server 2022 instance. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you choose, so there is one hourly rate per instance size. Options range from small burstable types like t2.nano and t3.micro up to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU families such as c5, r5, x1e, i3, and metal sizes. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates. You select the size that fits your workload and scale by switching instance types. There is no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the size you pick, billed per hour. The image runs Windows Server 2022 with Firebird open source and a database GUI for administration preinstalled. The database uses port 3050, opened on the Windows firewall and any security group deployed with the image.
Software charges apply per hour only while the instance runs. Stopped or powered-off instances do not accrue the hourly software fee. Underlying AWS storage and other resource fees may still apply while the instance is stopped. The software meters running time.
You scale by switching to a different EC2 instance type. Each type has its own hourly rate, so your software charge changes when you switch. There is no upfront commitment, so you can move between sizes as your workload needs change.
