Each billing unit is one running Arm-based EC2 instance, metered per hour. The Minimal Ubuntu image itself is free, so you pay only the AWS infrastructure cost for the instance type you select. Cost tracks running instance-hours, not any per-feature or per-user charge.
The software license is free, so no license fee applies whether the instance runs or stops. Hourly charges come from AWS infrastructure and accrue only while the instance runs. Stopped instances stop accruing compute charges, though attached AWS storage may still incur separate storage fees.

For Ubuntu Cloud Guest it is suggested to manually configure your Security Group/Firewall settings. The 1-Click Security Group opens only port 22 so that you can access your instance via ssh using login 'ubuntu'. If you chose the 1-Click Security Group, you may change it later to enable applications using the AWS Console or API.
