Smaller sizes (nano, micro) suit light workloads, while medium and large sizes handle heavier network and security processing. The t3a family uses AMD processors as an alternative to the t3 family. You choose one instance type based on your capacity needs; all deliver the same software capabilities.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each option maps to one EC2 instance of the named size, such as t3.medium or t3a.large. You pay by the hour the instance runs. Larger sizes give more CPU and memory for heavier network and security processing. The software adds no license fee on top of the instance-hour charge.
The software carries no license charge under this Free model, so stopping the instance removes any hourly software cost. A stopped instance still may incur underlying AWS storage fees for its attached volumes. The hourly meter reflects running time only.
