See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You run this software on your own EC2 instance, and the software itself carries no license charge under this Free model. Pricing depends only on which EC2 instance size you pick, billed by the hour. Options span the t2, t3, and t3a instance families, from nano through large sizes. Smaller sizes (nano, micro) suit light workloads, while medium and large sizes handle heavier network and security processing. The t3a family uses AMD processors as an alternative to the t3 family. You choose one instance type based on your capacity needs; all deliver the same software capabilities.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What resources do I get with each hourly instance option, and how is that charge counted?
Each option maps to one EC2 instance of the named size, such as t3.medium or t3a.large. You pay by the hour the instance runs. Larger sizes give more CPU and memory for heavier network and security processing. The software adds no license fee on top of the instance-hour charge.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software carries no license charge under this Free model, so stopping the instance removes any hourly software cost. A stopped instance still may incur underlying AWS storage fees for its attached volumes. The hourly meter reflects running time only.
How do the t3 and t3a instance families differ for the same size?
Both run the same software with the same features. The t3a family uses AMD processors as an alternative to the t3 family. You pick one instance type for your capacity needs. Neither choice changes what the software does; it changes the underlying compute you rent by the hour.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

In 2026, the market is undergoing a structural shift driven by the "AI-First" DoD policy and a record $1 trillion defense budget proposal. The industry has moved beyond standard ruggedization toward Edge AI platforms capable of autonomous decision-making in disconnected environments. Central to this year's procurement is the MOSA (Modular Open Systems Approach) mandate, which requires new hardware to be vendor-agnostic and easily upgradeable. This transition is fueling a surge in demand for high-performance embedded systems and ruggedized servers that can handle massive data fusion from ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) sensors at the tactical edge
