This listing bills through two dimensions. The first charges by worker node vCPU per hour, so your cost scales with the compute capacity your clusters use. As you add or remove vCPUs, the metered amount rises or falls. The second dimension covers Premium Support, which is included; you subscribe to a single unit for on-demand, pay-as-you-go billing. Together, the two dimensions separate platform compute usage from support. You pay for the vCPU capacity you run, plus the support unit that comes with the platform.

What counts as one vCPU-hour for billing on this platform?
You are metered on worker node vCPUs per hour. Each vCPU on your cluster worker nodes accrues one unit for every hour it runs. As you add worker node vCPUs, the hourly count rises. Control plane and infrastructure nodes are separate from this worker node metric.
What happens to my vCPU charges if I scale down or stop worker nodes?
Charges track worker node vCPUs per hour, so the metered amount falls when you remove or stop worker node vCPUs. Fewer running vCPUs mean fewer units billed each hour. Scaling back up raises the count again. The metering follows the compute capacity actually running.
How do the compute and support charges combine on my invoice?
The two dimensions bill independently. Worker node vCPU-hours meter your compute capacity and drive most of your variable cost. Premium Support is a single unit you subscribe to for on-demand, pay-as-you-go billing. Both appear on the same invoice, but compute usage typically dominates the total.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Red Hat OpenShift is that it makes Kubernetes much easier to use in real projects. The built-in developer tools, automated CI/CD pipelines, and strong security features save me a lot of time. I don’t have to worry as much about setting up complex integrations, because OpenShift already includes monitoring, logging, and role-based access out of the box.
For me, the biggest advantage is how it simplifies container management while still being enterprise-grade and scalable. Overall, it feels like Kubernetes with all the practical pieces already assembled and ready to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Red Hat OpenShift is that it can sometimes feel heavy and overly complex. The initial setup and ongoing configuration take more effort than plain Kubernetes, and the learning curve is steep, especially if you’re new to the platform. It also tends to require more resources to run smoothly, which can become costly in smaller environments.
So even though it’s powerful, the added complexity and higher resource requirements are the main downsides for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Red Hat OpenShift solves a few major problems for me. First, it removes much of the complexity of managing raw Kubernetes by providing a ready-made platform with built-in tools, which saves time and helps reduce mistakes. Second, it supports security and compliance because RBAC, monitoring, and policies are already integrated into the platform. Third, it speeds up application deployment through CI/CD pipelines and automation, so developers don’t have to waste effort on manual setup work.
The benefit is straightforward: I spend less time dealing with infrastructure headaches and more time focusing on real application development and scaling. Overall, it gives me stability, speed, and governance in one place.

What do you like best about the product?
the most used feature by me is the dev-topology view, it show all the entities, be it anything, pvc, namespaces, etc at a glance and shows the disconnected/errors at a glance so no need to run multiple kubectl commands. Its integration with other external and inhouse tools is seamless. performace wise its on par with its competitors but the support and securiity is what makes it the best tools for governance activities.
What do you dislike about the product?
As its security centric solution, any native image to run it as root can be problematic. The whole footprint of such a system is heavy as compared to other providers, making it a resource hungry alternative. This in turn results in higher operating costs and Pricing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The UI/UX that Openshift provides helps to view most of the basic thing at a UI level instead of using all the Kubectl commands to check each and every service. with a user friendly interface the integration of AI becomes easier.

What do you like best about the product?
OpenShift stands out because it delivers Kubernetes without the chaos. It smooths over many of the sharp edges of upstream K8s and packages them into opinionated, enterprise-grade automation that’s built to hold up in real production use.
What do you dislike about the product?
It’s Kubernetes… plus a lot of Red Hat opinions. OpenShift ’s guardrails are great... until they aren’t.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides a complete, supported, enterprise platform with predictable lifecycle, support SLAs, and integrated tooling.

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate Red Hat OpenShift for its strong security features. It delivers security by default through restricted security policies and non-root containers, which reduce risk without requiring extra setup. The RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) model is clear and practical, making it easy to control who can deploy, manage, or access resources and clearly separate admin, DevOps, and developer responsibilities. We use OpenShift on a daily basis for running and managing production workloads, and features like automated scaling, rolling updates, health checks, and image scanning help us meet enterprise security and compliance needs. While the initial setup requires Kubernetes knowledge, the guided installation, good documentation, and Red Hat support make implementation manageable. Integration with existing tools like CI/CD, monitoring, and identity providers is straightforward, and Red Hat’s customer support is responsive and reliable when issues arise. Overall, it feels like a secure, well-governed platform that still keeps things simple for our team.

One drawback of Red Hat OpenShift is that it can feel heavy and complex compared to plain Kubernetes, especially for smaller teams or simple workloads. The learning curve is steeper due to OpenShift-specific concepts like Routes and Operators. Also, upgrades require careful planning. The initial setup of Red Hat OpenShift was moderately complex, and while the installation process is well-documented, it still requires solid Kubernetes and infrastructure knowledge. For experienced teams, it's manageable, but for a smaller team, it feels heavy.
