Overview
The nature of our business allows us to accept a 1-hour SLA for data processing (data freshness and latency) for the vast majority of workloads. This flexibility enables us to eliminate the need for expensive traditional data warehouses as the primary analytical tool, replacing them with a cost-effective Data Lake architecture complemented by a suite of AWS-native analytics and data processing tools such as Amazon Athena, Amazon QuickSight, and AWS Glue. To deliver powerful, real-time self-service analytics, the Data Platform leverages SPICE in Amazon QuickSight, providing fast, interactive dashboards and reports. Amazon QuickSight’s rich and intuitive self-service capabilities empower business users to conduct ad-hoc analysis without relying on IT teams. At the same time, the platform supports real-time data streaming for various applications, including:
- Usage-Based Insurance (UBI) and Safe Driver Programs, which rely on live data from tracking devices.
- Near Real-Time Recommendations for end customers, such as optimized route suggestions using location services.
Highlights
- Incremental Adoption - Organizations can begin with core data storage and analytics capabilities, then expand with AI/ML, real-time streaming, or advanced governance features as required
- Plug-and-Play Components - The platform is designed with loosely coupled services, allowing teams to introduce new capabilities (e.g., AI/ML, data productization, or new data sources) without disrupting existing workflows
- Elastic Scalability - AWS-native services like Amazon S3, Athena, Amazon QuickSight and Glue provide automatic scaling, ensuring seamless growth without large upfront investments
