Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you launch. The software itself carries no separate license fee; each dimension reflects a different server size. Options range from small burstable instances to large compute-, memory-, and storage-focused types. Larger or newer instance families cost more per hour because they provide more CPU, memory, or throughput. You pick the size that matches your forum's expected load, and you can move to a different size later. Standard AWS EC2 usage rates apply, and you only pay while an instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to one running EC2 instance of that size, billed per hour. The unit is one instance-hour: one server of the chosen type running for one hour. If you run several instances, each accrues its own hourly charge. Instance size sets how much CPU, memory, or storage you get.
Hourly software charges apply only while an instance runs. If you use an EBS-backed (persistent) server, you can turn it off to stop usage fees, though AWS storage fees for the volume still apply. S3-backed servers can only be rebooted or destroyed, not stopped.
Every instance includes the forum system, SSL support, a database admin frontend, a mail transfer agent, and web-based administration modules. Bundled cloud backup, restore, migration, and chat or email support are included but require registration to the vendor's hub account to activate.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
System Initialization:
After creating EC2 instance, browse to http://<Public_DNS>/ for system initialization instructions.
Alternatively, log in via SSH as user 'admin' to the instance. Use the SSH keypair selected during launch.
This step is required to set sensitive passwords & install security updates. You may also be asked to set a domain name for your server. If a domain name for your server is required, then it must be a valid domain name (i.e. have DNS configured).

This may redirect to https and/or the domain set at initialisation.
OS commands via SSH
Log into the running instance via SSH as user 'admin', using the SSH keypair set at launch time. Use ‘sudo’ to run commands requiring root access.

Browser warnings
TurnKey AMIs ship with self signed SSL/TLS certs, causing https warnings in your web browser. To remove the warnings, you will need to get a SSL/TLS cert signed by an authorized Certificate Authority (CA). The recommended way to do that is to get a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate. To do that log in via SSH & run 'sudo confconsole' & Select:
