If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance. The many dimensions listed are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific EC2 instance type, spanning families like t2, t3, m5, m6i, c5, c6i, r5, r6i, i3, i4i, g5, p3, and x1e, plus various sizes from nano up to metal. Larger instances carry more CPU, memory, or storage, so the hourly rate scales with the compute capacity you select. You run the same Ethereum full node image regardless of which instance you choose.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and am I charged when the instance is stopped?
The hourly rate covers the Ethereum full node software running on your chosen EC2 instance. You pay for each hour the instance runs. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees for saved volumes may still apply while stopped, billed separately by AWS.
Does choosing a larger instance change the software or just the hourly cost?
You run the same Ethereum full node image on every instance type. Larger instances add CPU, memory, or storage, so the hourly rate rises with capacity. The preinstalled setup, including Geth, the pre-synced ledger, remote desktop, and the wallet, stays the same across all instance sizes.
How do the software charge and the AWS infrastructure cost combine on my bill?
Two charges apply at once. You pay this hourly software rate for your selected instance type. Separately, AWS bills you for the underlying EC2 compute and any storage. Both accrue per hour the instance runs and appear on the same AWS invoice, added together.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
