The many dimensions represent different AWS instance types, grouped by family. Compute-optimized (c-series) options suit processing-heavy work. General-purpose families (m-series, t-series) balance compute and memory, with t-series offering burstable small sizes like nano and micro. Memory-focused (r-series) and storage-focused (i-series) families serve other needs. Within each family, larger sizes (large, xlarge, 2xlarge) cost more per hour. Your cost scales with instance size and total running hours.

The software charge meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Note that separate AWS storage fees for the attached disk may still apply while the instance is stopped, since that storage remains allocated. Restarting the instance resumes the hourly software charge.
Match the instance family to your workload: c-series for processing-heavy jobs, m-series or t-series for balanced use, r-series for memory needs, and i-series for storage. Larger sizes cost more per hour. You can stop the instance and relaunch on a different type; note that stopped AWS instances change their IP unless you attach an Elastic IP.

Usage instructions
System initialization
After launch, browse to http://<Public_DNS>/ and complete the first-boot configuration, or connect by SSH using the key pair selected at launch.
Operating system access
Connect using SSH as the Linux user admin with the selected EC2 key pair. Run privileged commands with sudo; this provides full OS-level administration.
Application access
Open http://<Public_DNS>/ in a web browser. The application may redirect to HTTPS after configuration.
