    Joomla 5.4.5 (Latest Stable Release) Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with security support until 2029 Apache 2.4 with PHP 8.3 FPM and OPcache MySQL 8.0 with security hardening and localhost-only binding Certbot pre-installed for free SSL via Let's Encrypt UFW firewall pre-configured EC2 Instance Metadata Service v2 (IMDSv2) is used automatically during first-boot to retrieve instance information. No user-provided credentials are required.

    AUTOMATED FIRST-BOOT DEPLOYMENT

    Each instance launched from this AMI goes through a one-time automated initialization that creates a unique MySQL database user and password, updates Joomla configuration, generates a unique administrator account, and writes all credentials to ~/credentials.txt. The system is fully operational within 2 to 3 minutes of launch.

    GETTING STARTED

    1. Launch an EC2 instance from this AMI with an SSH key pair
    2. Open ports 22, 80, and 443 in your security group
    3. Wait 2 to 3 minutes for first boot to complete
    4. SSH in and run: cat ~/credentials.txt
    5. Open http://YOUR_IP in your browser to view the site
    6. Sign in at http://YOUR_IP/administrator

    RECOMMENDED INSTANCE TYPES

    Personal sites and development: t3.small or t3.medium Business websites: t3.large or t3.xlarge High traffic publishing: t3.2xlarge or larger

    SSL AND CUSTOM DOMAIN SETUP

    After pointing your domain to the instance Elastic IP: sudo certbot --apache -d yourdomain.com HTTPS will be configured automatically with auto-renewal enabled.

    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AND DEPENDENCIES

    GETTING STARTED

    After launching your instance, the automated first-boot process completes within 2 to 3 minutes. During this time, unique credentials are generated, the database is configured, and Joomla is ready to use.

    Step 1 - Connect via SSH using your EC2 key pair: ssh -i your-key.pem ubuntu@YOUR_PUBLIC_IP

    Step 2 - Retrieve your login credentials: cat ~/credentials.txt This file contains your Joomla admin username, password, and database details. It is readable only by the ubuntu user (chmod 600).

    Step 3 - Open the site in your browser: http://YOUR_PUBLIC_IP

    Step 4 - Access the admin panel: http://YOUR_PUBLIC_IP/administrator Sign in with the username and password from credentials.txt.

    SECURITY GROUP REQUIREMENTS

    Open the following ports in your EC2 security group: TCP 22 for SSH administration (restrict to your own IP for better security) TCP 80 for web access TCP 443 for HTTPS after SSL installation

    credentials.txt is readable only by the ubuntu user (chmod 600) The first-boot script executes only once and will not regenerate credentials on reboot Each launched instance receives completely unique credentials Root SSH login is permanently disabled, always connect as the ubuntu user Password-based SSH is disabled, an EC2 key pair is always required An Elastic IP and SSL certificate are strongly recommended for production use
