QNX® Hypervisor 2.2 - the industry-leading hypervisor for developing mission-critical embedded systems software, enabling next-generation products in every industry where reliability matters, including automotive, medical devices, robotics, transportation and industrial embedded systems.
QNX® Hypervisor 2.2 lets you consolidate multiple systems with diverse OSs and different reliability and security requirements onto a single System on a Chip (SoC). You can, for example, build a safety-critical system certified to standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 that includes one or more safety-certified virtual machines. These virtual machines can contain non-safety guest systems and run alongside safety-certified software components executing mission-critical work. Whatever your overall system requirements, with the QNX Hypervisor users are able to implement the features they need, on the OSs they prefer, all the while reducing system power consumption and the need for thermal dissipation, and especially reducing both initial development costs and long-term cost of ownership.
This cloud-enabled version of the Hypervisor is part of the BlackBerry QNX Accelerate initiative. Develop mission-critical embedded systems software, globally, at scale. Accelerate development cycles with full ARM64 binary parity, interface parity and CI/CD pipeline integration. Focus on innovation, with reduced capital expenditure and faster time-to-market.
Highlights
Hypervisor, safe, reliable, scalable, secure, real-time and high performance, VirtIO, with aarch64 binary interface parity from the cloud to embedded target system.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on which bare-metal instance you run QNX Hypervisor 2.2 on. The three options map to different AWS instance types: r6g.metal, c6g.metal, and m6g.metal. Each represents a distinct hardware profile, so you choose the instance that fits your compute and memory needs. Billing is usage-based and accrues per hour of runtime, with no upfront commitment. There are no tiers or add-ons here. Cost scales simply with the hours you run and the instance type you select. The hypervisor itself lets you run multiple operating systems on one target system.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billed hour cover across the r6g.metal, c6g.metal, and m6g.metal options?
Each option maps to a bare-metal AWS instance type. One billed hour covers running QNX Hypervisor 2.2 on that specific hardware profile for one hour. The three types differ in their compute and memory balance, so you pick the profile that matches your workload.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue per hour the instance runs. When you stop the instance, the hourly software charge does not accrue. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees, but the QNX Hypervisor 2.2 licence meters running time only.
What can I run on the target system once QNX Hypervisor 2.2 is deployed?
The hypervisor lets you run multiple operating systems on one target system. This separates critical and non-critical functions on shared hardware. Your choice of instance type sets the compute and memory available to those guest operating systems.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
