This is a free operating system image, so the software itself carries no license charge. You pay only for the AWS EC2 instance you run it on, billed hourly. Each pricing line maps to one EC2 instance type. The many options span instance families built for general purpose, compute, memory, storage, accelerated, and high-performance computing needs. Within each family, sizes scale from small to metal configurations. Your hourly rate rises as you choose larger instances with more CPU and memory. Pick the instance type that matches your workload, and pay for the hours you use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly rate covers CPU and memory for one running EC2 instance of the listed type. The OpenCloudOS software itself is free. Not included: system disk, data disks, storage snapshots, and network bandwidth. Those AWS resources bill separately from the instance-hour charge.
The hourly rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the instance-hour charge. But attached storage, such as system or data disks, can still incur AWS storage fees while the instance is stopped. You pay only for the hours the instance actually runs.
Pick a different instance type from the pricing list. Each type has its own hourly rate that rises with more CPU and memory. Switching means launching or resizing to the new type; billing then follows that type's hourly rate. There is no upfront commitment, so you change as needs shift.
