You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen EC2 instance type. There is no upfront commitment; billing follows your actual runtime. The many dimensions each map to one specific instance size, not to feature tiers. All dimensions deliver the same software; they differ only by the compute capacity of the underlying instance. Smaller instances suit light or test workloads, while larger instances handle heavier production loads. The vendor recommends an instance with at least 2 vCPU and 8 GB RAM for production. Your hourly cost scales with the size of the instance you select.

What do I actually get with each hourly instance dimension?
Each dimension runs the same prepared image: Oracle WebLogic Server 14c (14.1.2.0.0) with Java EE 8, Oracle JDK 21 LTS, a pre-configured domain, and management agents. The instance name you pick only sets the compute capacity (vCPU and memory). Software content stays identical across all sizes.
Am I charged when the EC2 instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running hours only. A stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage, including the separate 20GB volume holding the Oracle software. To halt all software charges, stop or terminate the instance.
How do I move to a bigger instance if my workload grows?
There is no tier upgrade to buy. You simply launch a different instance dimension from the list, and the hourly rate follows that instance size. The vendor recommends at least 2 vCPU and 8 GB RAM for production. Larger sizes cost more per hour.
