This is a repackaged open source software product wherein a fee is applied for the deployment of the application and AMI support and compliance. Code-Server is a Visual Studio Code Server which allows you to run Visual Studio Code on a remote server, through the web on any browser. It allows you to code anywhere and on any device such as a tablet or laptop with a consistent integrated development environment (IDE).
Visual Studio Code is a source-code editor made by Microsoft for Windows, Linux and macOS. Features include support for debugging, syntax highlighting, intelligent code completion, snippets, code refactoring, and embedded Git. Users can change the theme, keyboard shortcuts, preferences, and install extensions that add additional functionality.

You pay by the hour for Visual Studio Code Server running on the AWS instance type you pick. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance size, so pricing scales with the compute power you choose. Smaller instances like t2.nano and t2.micro carry lower hourly rates. Memory-optimized (r-series), compute-optimized (c-series), storage-optimized (d-series and i-series), and accelerated (g-series, p-series, f-series) families give more resources at higher hourly rates. Each dimension bills per hour of running time on a specific EC2 instance type. One unit equals one instance running for one hour. The instance size sets the compute, memory, and storage you receive. You pay only for the hours the chosen instance runs.
Software charges accrue per hour while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes. The software meter counts running time only.
You choose one instance dimension when you launch. Moving to a different instance type means running under that dimension's hourly rate instead. Larger families like r-series, p-series, and metal instances carry higher hourly rates. The change is manual, done by launching the new instance type you select.
