What is the HSCN? The Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) is a secure data network built for the healthcare sector. It allows healthcare professionals to securely access and share essential services and information. The HSCN fosters collaboration among healthcare organisations, enhances patient care, and ensures adherence to strict data protection regulations.

What is Health Connect? Cloud Gateway's Health Connect service offers secure, cost-effective connectivity to the HSCN for users, sites or cloud environments.

Cloud Connectivity: When connecting the HSCN to cloud services, Our solution is designed to support customers implementing, optimizing, and maintaining AWS Direct Connect. We assist clients in provisioning connections, configuring routing with BGP, integrating with the HSCN, and ensuring high availability and security in hybrid cloud environments. These services are critical for organizations seeking low-latency, high-throughput, and secure network connections between the HSCN and AWS. Connections to other Cloud Service Providers can be established too.

The service is deployed over our core network, which provides private IP connectivity to the HSCN and optionally to the internet. Connectivity is provided in a resilient manner by connecting to two geographically diverse data centre locations.

What you need to do In order for Cloud Gateway to connect you, you’ll need to sign up to the terms of the HSCN Connection Agreement. We have plenty of guides to help you with this process.

Step1: Sign the HSCN Connection agreement If you think you’ve signed the HSCN Connection Agreement (which replaced the NHS N3 network in 2018), search either using your organisation name or ODS code.

Step 2: Request an invitation if you haven’t received anything If you haven't yet received an invitation to complete your Connection Agreement, contact enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk  to request access to their online portal.

Step 3: Submit your agreement to NHS Digital Once you have access to the NHS Digital online portal, sign your Connection Agreement and submit it to NHS Digital. This usually happens within 5-7 working days.

Step 4: We’ll double check your HSCN Agreement As a trusted HSCN network provider, Cloud Gateway will validate that you've signed up to the terms of the HSCN Connection Agreement before connecting your environments to HSCN.
