    Dimensions summary

This listing uses a contract-based pricing model with a single dimension, measured in units of ONESOURCE Indirect Tax. The listed price is not shown in the pricing table. To buy, you contact the vendor directly at aws-sales@tr.com to arrange terms. Because pricing is custom, the vendor scopes your unit count based on your needs. This product automates indirect tax calculations, including sales tax, use tax, GST, VAT, and excise tax, across global jurisdictions. You negotiate the final quantity and price with the vendor rather than selecting from preset tiers.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

The pricing table lists units but does not define what one unit maps to. The vendor scopes your unit count based on transaction volume and jurisdictions. Contact aws-sales@tr.com to confirm how units are counted for your business before purchase.
It automates sales tax, use tax, GST, VAT, and excise tax calculations. It supports global jurisdictions with current rates and rules delivered in real time. Your team does not research rates manually, since content updates synchronize automatically with the cloud-based tax engine.
The single unit-based dimension covers the tax determination engine. It connects to ERP, financial, billing, e-commerce, POS, and payment systems through pre-built and custom integrations. Because pricing is custom, confirm which integrations and setup work are included when you contact the vendor.

Indirect tax editor has transformed weekly filings and now simplifies complex cross-border compliance

    Reviewed on Aug 21, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination is to help with indirect taxes.

It is easy to identify the company's products, determine how much the tax is, and calculate it easily.

On time, we are going to claim the taxes to the government.

    What is most valuable?

Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination has provided many features that identify typical critical scenarios, and we can easily handle those situations.

The tool has provided very helpful configuration, and it is excellent.

The best features Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination offers include the introduction of new features like the Tax Editor.

Earlier, Sabrix was implemented by Thomson Reuters, which was old technology. Day-to-day, they claim and implement new features like the Tax Editor, where we identify the issues and use the help of configuration without needing code.

Earlier, we had to do qualifiers using the TransEditors, but now, with recent releases, we no longer need to go for the TransEditors unless it is the last option.

They have provided good opportunities at the configuration level, allowing control at the intrastate and company code specific levels.

The new features like the Tax Editor and improved configuration options have made my work easier and more efficient compared to before.

Earlier, I always had to work at the TransEditor level, needing to write numerous conditions for the country code, but now, without doing this kind of code, I can directly make configurations at the country code and company code level.

This has improved my efficiency and reduced my effort.

Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination has positively impacted my organization by providing opportunities, and my company is going to conduct pre-sales for other vendors to get projects using this tool.

The efficiency of this tool is excellent, and the effort needed is much lesser than before, which helps us in getting good opportunities in the market.

    What needs improvement?

When we are unable to find a solution, we raise an incident similar to raising SAP incidents.

My suggestion is for Thomson Reuters to quickly provide solutions so that they can have a good name in the market.

This is the only improvement I can think of; in my opinion, it is the only way.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination is stable in my experience.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination is good because whenever we raise a query, we receive responses.

    There is room for improvement.

I would rate the customer support a seven on a scale of one to ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not previously use a different solution before Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination.

I switched from SAP ABAP directly to Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination, and this has been my first solution.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment from using Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination.

We save time and money, and this tool helps our team avoid struggles in calculating taxes.

By proactively updating costs and taxes, we save time and money, which helps ensure that companies remain compliant and avoid penalties from the government.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options before choosing Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination.

I do not see any other solutions.

What other advice do I have?

A quick specific example of how I use Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination in my day-to-day work is that every week we are calculating taxes.

Whether it is intrastate or international, based on the country for which we are calculating, it depends on the product being shipped from outside the country, intrastate, or international.

Based on that, we are calculating and providing the taxes, and submitting them to the auditing team.

I find these features to be the main things, and many tax consultants face issues, but I have found those normal things as well.

However, these are the main things.

Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination is deployed in my organization in a public cloud.

We are working for a few clients, and one of the clients is asking for on-premises while another client is working in the public cloud.

I rated Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination a ten out of ten.

It is a very good tool for any clients looking to calculate their taxes, and they can easily calculate the tax and submit their filings on time.

I chose ten out of ten because I see no critical issues other than the need for Thomson Reuters to respond quickly when we raise incidents.

Everything else is very quick, and the tool's friendly nature makes it interactive.

They have also introduced AI, so when we have queries, AI help is available to provide immediate responses on indirect tax details.

Regarding Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination's AI capabilities, we are not involved in any security aspects.

Whenever we have a query, the AI provides a response, and we do not need external help when doing configurations.

There is no harm from a security and governance perspective, as it simply acts as a search tool rather than having to check on Google.

I have found the AI capabilities to be accurate and reliable because when I have a query, I simply prompt it, and the AI gives prompt answers.

It guides me through the TransEditor and offers step-by-step navigation, which is helpful for verification before making final conclusions.

I do not have much experience with the pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination; I have only a little experience in this area.

I recommend Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination to anyone looking for a very nice and good tool.

Overall, it is nice and very good.

Automated tax reporting has reduced manual work and supports accurate audit-ready filings

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination is to calculate sales and use tax and perform sales tax reporting.

A specific example of how I use it for sales and use tax reporting is when we process AP invoices, it determines whether or not the correct sales tax or use tax has been charged, and then at each month, we run reports, and those reports are used to report our sales and use tax on state-specific tax returns.

In addition to that, I also use Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination to collect and gather resale certificates from our customers.

How has it helped my organization?

Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination has positively impacted my organization by shifting it from a manual process to a more automated process.

That shift to automation has affected my team by improving efficiency; it reduced the amount of time it took my team to prepare to gather the information, review it, and report it on our sales tax returns, and it also cut down on some of the time that our other departments, such as accounts payable, had to review invoices.

I have seen a return on investment, as we saved time; it took probably three weeks to prepare returns, and now we are able to do it in probably a week.

    What is most valuable?

The best features that Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination offers include the ability to create reports that are used for the sales tax returns.

The reporting features are beneficial because we are able to pick up 100% of our invoices, which has been very helpful in audits.

    What needs improvement?

I cannot think of anything at this time in terms of how Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination can be improved.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate the customer support an eight out of 10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not previously use a different solution; before that, it was a very manual process, so it was Excel.

    How was the initial setup?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was that it went very well.

    What about the implementation team?

Before choosing Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination, we looked at Avalara, Vertex, and CCH.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment, as we saved time; it took probably three weeks to prepare returns, and now we are able to do it in probably a week.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was that it went very well.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination, we looked at Avalara, Vertex, and CCH.

What other advice do I have?

The advice I would give to others looking into using Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination is to minimize the number of customizations you have when you are setting up your rules, and I would tell them that the reporting is very flexible. I would rate this review an 8.

Structured tax workflows have reduced invoice errors and support smooth SAP integrations

    Reviewed on Jun 25, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I mainly use Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination for tax determination for other conditions. It is integrated with SAP, and we mainly use it for TransEditor, TCQ purposes, and custom rules, and to write a new TransEditor or TCQ. The main purpose is that.

Suppose a situation where an AP processor tried to process an invoice from SAP, and SAP is integrated with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE. While processing the invoice, the AP team has an issue. Maybe they are not able to process the invoice due to a Sabrix error. We go and check the issue and we put in the data and we check the logs of the out-data and we found that there is an error in the TransEditor. We go to that particular group of the TransEditor and fix it.

I mostly use the product mapping, TransEditor, custom rules, and TCQs. These are the main uses and the use case.

How has it helped my organization?

We are using Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination for our client purpose mainly and it has been fantastic in our growth in our company. It played a positive impact.

    What is most valuable?

I cannot say what are the best features of Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination, but it is easy to navigate and the ease of navigation and learning are strong points. If someone new wants to start learning Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, it is designed in such a way to navigate very easily. The easiness is a good feature.

TransEditor is what makes Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination easy to use. We mostly use TransEditor, and it is user-friendly.

Definitely, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination has three stages: development server, pre-production, and production. It reduces the height of error. If anything you modify in the dev server, until and unless you verify using the tax calculator, you cannot move it to the pre-production. This reduces error significantly. This is a very good feature and outcome. There are very few chances to get an error.

    What needs improvement?

It is good overall. For custom rules, there is some complexity in the custom rules creation. If something could be done to make it very easy to understand the custom rule and how to create it, providing a guide on how to create a custom rule in an easy way would help. This feels a little complex in Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination.

I feel Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination is good as of now. I do not have particularly any advice, but it feels good. There is no scope of improvement. However, your team can work along with them and find areas as needed.

Nothing is perfect in this world. There is always a possibility of enhancement or feature upgrade. These are the two points I have identified for the future upgrade.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working for one and a half years in this field.

What other advice do I have?

I did not use any of the AI feature in Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination. Either it is not in our version what we are using, so I have no proper answer for that.

I do not use AI with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination as of now, so I have no answer for that.

My overall rating for this product is 8 out of 10.
