AWS AppStream 2.0 Proof of Concept

     Info
In this Proof of Concept (POC) effort Samana Group will implement a new environment that will allow for testing and evaluating applications presented by AWS AppStream 2.0.

    Overview

Samana will design the Proof of Concept (POC) for AWS AppStream 2.0 following the principles of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, when applicable. The principles include building a secure, high-performance, resilient, and efficient solution. The Well-Architected Framework ensures cloud best practices, embracing the six pillars: Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost Optimization, and Sustainability.

The POC effort consists of the following phases:

    Kickoff

â—Ź Introduce teams and establish communication preferences. â—Ź Review scope of work. â—Ź Review environments, processes, security standards, tooling, documentation, and repositories.

    Discovery

â—Ź Review of infrastructure involved. â—Ź SLA and uptime requirements. â—Ź Performance requirements for the application. â—Ź Security and compliance requirements. â—Ź Data and storage requirements.

    Design

â—Ź Design Network and communications. â—Ź Identify application requirements and decide the functionality on AWS AppStream. â—Ź Define pipelines for automation process. â—Ź Definition of cloud resources for Stack. â—Ź Design the Fleet types to use. â—Ź IAM policies. â—Ź Authentication flow. â—Ź Review network architecture.

    Deployment

â—Ź Configuration of landing zone. â—Ź Creation of AWS account. â—Ź IAM configuration. â—Ź VPC set up. â—Ź Creation of instances (image builder and fleets). â—Ź Integration of AWS CloudFormation for automation. â—Ź Configuration of storage for applications settings.

    Configuration & Testing

â—Ź Authentication configuration. â—Ź Active Directory support. â—Ź Creation of image builders and Elastic, On-Demand or Always-On Fleets. â—Ź Configurations of Image Builder. â—Ź Users to provision on the Stacks. â—Ź Testing and setting processes.
