Each dimension maps to a specific instance type across families like general purpose (m, t), compute (c), memory (r, x), storage (d, i), and accelerated computing (g, p, inf, trn). Larger instance types carry more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware, so their hourly rate rises accordingly. You choose the size that fits your workload, and billing scales with usage hours.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. The hourly rate covers the hardened RHEL 8.8 image plus the compliance agent running on that instance. CPU, memory, and any specialized hardware come from the instance size you pick. AWS charges the underlying compute separately from this software rate.
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the image and compliance agent bill by active hours.
Billing follows the instance type you launch. Moving to a size with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware raises the hourly rate for the hours it runs. There is no automatic tier upgrade; you select the size, and charges reflect that choice per hour.

Ssh to the instance public IP and login as 'redhat' user using the key specified at launch time. Use 'sudo su -' in order to get a root prompt.
