Dimensions summary
This listing bills by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so you pay only for the hours each machine runs. Pricing scales with the instance you choose. Smaller shared-core types like t2.nano and t3.micro sit at one end. Larger compute, memory, storage, and accelerated types like c8i, r8i, x8i, and metal variants sit at the other. You select the hardware that fits your workload, and the hourly software rate follows that choice. There is no upfront commitment; charges accrue with usage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the hardened operating system software license for that instance size. It is separate from the underlying AWS compute charge. You pay the software rate plus standard AWS infrastructure fees for every hour the machine runs.
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Note that AWS may still bill for attached storage while the machine is stopped, but that is separate from this listing's software metering.
Each instance type carries its own hourly software rate. Switching to a larger type changes the rate from the moment the new machine runs. You are not locked to one size; charges simply follow whichever instance type is active during each hour.
