For organizations that need to cost-effectively centralize, govern and analyze frontier and everyday data at scale, TileDB is a cloud database management solution built to master multimodal data, facilitate secure collaboration and accelerate breakthroughs.
TileDB is the database designed for discovery. Powered by shape-shifting multi-dimensional arrays, TileDB Carrara brings together complex frontier data like mulitomics and conventional files in a single database, transforming object stores into Trusted Research Environments. In Carrara, data, science and business teams can finally organize, structure, collaborate on, and analyze all their life sciences data, all in one place -- turning scattered information into meaningful insights that power breakthroughs and propel competitive differentiation.
Highlights
Where mainstream data solutions struggle, TileDB solves. Emerging frontier data like population genomics, bioimaging, proteomics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics are powering precision medicine advancements. However, this multimodal, "unstructured" data is large scale, multi-dimensional and notoriously difficult to use, stressing the limits of general-purpose data and compute management.
As a result, this data needs to be managed and computed in ways that abstract it away from scientists--who now must lean on research informatics teams in order to glean biological insights. Collaboration between these teams often suffers due to data and workflow complexity and the lack of robust tools that scale and perform for both groups. When abstraction and obstruction separate scientists from collaboration, life-changing drug and target discoveries are delayed or altogether missed.
With TileDB, teams comprising scientists, data scientists, data engineers and ML ops can: Store and manage multidimensional data and metadata with ease. Collaborate on a collection of public data sets alongside their private data. Analyze multimodal -omics data at scale cost-effectively. Deploy generative AI and ML tooling like vector search to accelerate target discovery. Collaborate securely without governance risks or versioning and traceability challenges.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor, and additional usage. You pay upfront or in installments according to your contract terms with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. Usage-based pricing is in effect for overages or additional usage not covered in the contract. These charges are applied on top of the contract price. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before the contract end date, access to your entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
This contract listing uses two purchasing dimensions. You buy the Unit dimension in single increments, letting you add capacity one Unit at a time. The Starter dimension bundles 20 Units together in a single purchase. Both dimensions measure the same underlying Unit, so they scale the same resource. You choose the Unit option for granular additions or the Starter option for a fixed block of 20. This lets you match your purchase size to your needs under one committed contract.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one Unit represent in this contract?
A Unit is the shared measure of capacity you buy under this contract. The platform meters resources like user seats and computational power. Both the Unit and Starter dimensions draw from this same underlying measure, so buying either adds to the same capacity pool.
How do the Unit and Starter dimensions combine on my invoice?
Both dimensions bill against the same Unit measure and appear on one contract. You can buy the 20-Unit Starter block and add single Units on top. The total capacity is simply the sum of Units purchased across both dimensions.
Can I add more capacity after my initial purchase?
Yes. The Unit dimension lets you add capacity one Unit at a time. This suits growing needs, such as adding user seats or computational power. The Starter dimension adds a fixed block of 20 Units when you need a larger jump at once.

CZ CELLxGENE Discover (cellxgene.cziscience.com) is a free-to-use platform for the exploration, analysis, and retrieval of single-cell data. CZ CELLxGENE Discover hosts the largest aggregation of standardized single-cell data from the major human and mouse tissues, with modalities that include gene expression, chromatin accessibility, DNA methylation, and spatial transcriptomics.
This year, CZ CELLxGENE Discover has made available all of its human and mouse RNA single-cell data through Census (https://chanzuckerberg.github.io/cellxgene-census/) – a free-to-use service with an API and data that allows for querying its single-cell data corpus directly from Python or R.
The API uses a new technology, TileDB-SOMA, that allows for efficient and low-latency querying. The data are fully standardized and hosted publicly for free access, and they are composed by a count matrix of tens of millions of cells (observations) by >60 k genes (features) accomp[...]

What do you like best about the product?
What I consider are the basic and advantageous qualities of TileDB is that it make data management easier. Due to its flexible structure, compatibility and ease in use, we have had a chance in the recent years to store, retrieve and analyze large amount of data in shorter time than used to be possible. Among the aspects to which customers pay much attention, flexibility that allows TileDB to solve our constantly changing tasks is among the most valuable . The application is capable of saving any type of data, be it an image, or highly structured, with no problems. Besides, the high query response time has enabled effective data analysis and decision-making for the organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
But it must be noted that initially, it does take some time to actually adapt to the user interface of TileDB. We could have benefited from a more detailed tutorial that would enlighten us more on all the functions and prospects of the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Regarding how TileDB has assisted us in solving issues in our company I would like to note that it has been a major useful instrument. Mainly, we have achieved optimization of data management processes, cost reduction, and outcomes enhancement.
