• Scope workloads – for VMware – understand the mix of licensing that currently exists
• Collect data - collect utilization data, through a third party service or through outputs from RVTools (VMware specific outputs)
• Analyze – Analyze the data to provide modeling of cost and optimization scenarios
• Plan – review the results and build your business case for migrating VMware workloads to AWS

Overview
The assessment follows a prescriptive procedure to ensure accuracy and predictability. The following steps will be completed in order:
Workload Scope
We’ll start with environment type to be scoped (ie. Production or non-production),and get a sense of the size and scale of your workload environment.
Data Collection
Either through hypervisor query tools, or through agents that can be deployed on physical machines. (Hypervisor query tools preferred).
Agentless discovery via remote resource, depending on your environment and operating system. Flat file collection for detailed analysis. Data can be collected within a 5 day window with hypervisor queries. Using agents or manual queries will extend the delivery dates.
Report
NTT DATA will provide a total cost of ownership analysis as well as a license recommendation for your review.
