Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for Niflheim VPN, billed on the EC2 instance type you run it on. The many dimensions are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific AWS instance size, from small burstable types like t2.nano and t1.micro up to compute-, memory-, storage-, and GPU-optimized families such as c7i, r7iz, i4i, and g5. Your rate scales with the compute capacity of the instance you select. Pick the instance that fits your network throughput and workload needs; you are charged only for the hours you run.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billing unit cover, and am I charged when the instance is stopped?
Each unit is one hour that your chosen EC2 instance runs Niflheim VPN. You pay the software rate only while the instance is running. A stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Note that AWS may still bill separately for attached storage on stopped instances.
How does the software hourly rate combine with the EC2 infrastructure cost?
Two charges appear on the same bill. The Niflheim VPN software rate is metered per instance-hour based on the instance type you pick. AWS charges its own EC2 rate for that instance separately. Both accrue at the same time while the instance runs, so total cost is the sum of the two.
If I need more network throughput, how do I change cost — automatically or by switching instances?
Cost does not scale automatically. You choose a larger instance family or size, such as moving from t3.small to c7i.xlarge, then run the software on it. The hourly rate changes to match the new instance type. To scale down, switch to a smaller instance. You control the tradeoff between capacity and hourly cost.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
