Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you pick to run this software. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, and storage that instance provides. Smaller instances like t2.nano or t3.micro carry lower hourly rates. Larger instances such as x1e.32xlarge or the u-24tb1.metal bare-metal option carry higher rates. There are no tiers or feature packages to choose between. You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing runs for each hour the instance operates.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One billed hour equals one hour that your chosen EC2 instance runs. Each instance comes preloaded with the Firebird database and a database management GUI on Windows Server 2019. The database listens on port 3050, opened on the Windows firewall and any security group deployed with the image.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk while the instance is stopped, but the software meter counts running time only.
There is no upgrade fee or tier change. You stop the current instance and launch a different instance type. Billing then follows the hourly rate tied to that new instance size. The change is manual, and you pay per hour for whichever instance is running.
