Overview
Chainguard [Private Offer] combines the benefits of the Private Offer feature along with Carahsoft's contract vehicles in providing customers a seamless acquisition process for their cloud-based products and solutions from AWS Marketplace.
Chainguard Images are a collection of minimal, hardened container images. They only contain what is required to build or run your application, delivering on average a 97.6% reduction in CVEs. Each Chainguard Image is patched and rebuilt daily from source with the latest security fixes and CVE remediations, resulting in low-to-zero known CVEs, verifiable image signatures and attestations, high-quality SBOMs, and SLSA Level 2 - Build compliance. The Chainguard Images inventory contains images for the most popular base images, including Go, Python, Ruby, PHP, Node, and more; and a selection of common developer tools, applications, data products, and servers. Chainguard Production Images are available for FIPS compliance, major and minor versions, enterprise SLAs, and customer support. Chainguard offers custom pricing through AWS Marketplace Private Offers.

Dimensions summary
You buy this through a private offer, billed annually per unit. Each dimension covers a separate category of container image or service you license. Starter Images, Application Image, Base Image, FIPS Image, and AI Image each price a distinct image type as its own line item. Standard CSM prices a support or success management component. You select the quantity of units you need in each category. The dimensions work independently rather than as ranked tiers, so you combine only the image types and service that match your requirements. Pricing scales with the number of units per dimension.

A unit represents one licensed container image within that category. You count each distinct Production container image you use in a category as one unit. For example, an Application Image unit covers one enterprise-ready application container with patch service and time-stamped tags. You buy the number of image units you plan to run.
FIPS Images support Federal Information Processing Standard readiness for compliance-driven environments. Base Images provide foundational container images. Application Images cover specific enterprise-ready software containers with patch service levels and time-stamped tags. Each is billed separately per unit, so you license only the image types your workloads require.
Standard CSM bills as its own annual line item alongside the image units you license. Image dimensions drive cost based on how many container image units you use in each category. Standard CSM adds a separate support or success management charge. Both appear together on the same annual invoice.
