Sparkle Quantum Safe over Internet - QSI

Quantum Safe over Internet (QSI) is Sparkle’s cloud-native VPN service designed to protect sensitive data in transit using symmetric key encryption, ensuring resilience against quantum computing threats. Unlike traditional VPN solutions based on public key infrastructure (PKI), QSI uses symmetric keys that are securely pre-distributed, eliminating the vulnerabilities of certificate-based systems and providing built-in quantum safety.

The Quantum Safe to Cloud use case enables enterprises, public sector organizations, universities, and research institutions to establish end-to-end encrypted tunnels between their on-premises environments or data centers and AWS cloud regions. The service is fully managed by Sparkle and delivered over IPsec, with symmetric keys generated and distributed to the endpoints through a secure orchestration platform. This mechanism, based on trusted cryptographic technology developed by Arqit, ensures that both endpoints receive identical keys without exchanging them over the network, removing the need for key exchange protocols or PKI.

QSI integrates seamlessly with Fortinet’s Next-Generation Firewall and supports deployment on AWS using standard compute instances (e.g., t3.medium running Red Hat Enterprise Linux), and more connectivity options will come. The solution supports sovereign key delivery, aligns with European data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR), and is ideally suited for sectors such as finance, healthcare, government, education, AI workloads, and scientific research.
