You pay by the hour for this software running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance. The price is a software fee tied to each instance type, and it stacks on top of standard AWS infrastructure charges. There is no upfront commitment or fixed term. The many dimensions are not feature tiers; they simply match the wide range of EC2 instance sizes and families, from small general-purpose types to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-focused ones. Your rate scales with the instance you select. You control cost by picking an instance that fits your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly software fee on each EC2 instance type?
You get a ready-to-run SonarQube image on Debian 12, with support from Askforcloud. The rate is a software charge tied to the instance family and size you pick. Larger instances carry more CPU, memory, or storage, so the hourly software fee changes with the instance you launch.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue this hourly software charge. You may still pay standard AWS storage fees for attached volumes while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How does my bill combine the software fee with AWS infrastructure costs?
Two charges apply at once. The hourly software fee for the SonarQube image adds to the standard AWS charge for the EC2 instance you run. Both scale with the instance type you choose and appear together on your AWS invoice. Picking a smaller instance lowers both.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources.
