Bacalhau is a distributed compute platform that orchestrates and executes workloads across cloud, on-premise, and edge environments. It efficiently processes data locally to reduce bandwidth and enhance data governance, ensuring compliance by keeping sensitive data on-premise. Bacalhau’s robust consensus mechanisms maintain operations and data integrity even in challenging network conditions, distributing workloads seamlessly across multiple zones and environments.
This technology is designed for enterprises needing efficient data management, robust governance, and compliance, such as those in finance, healthcare, and government. It’s also ideal for businesses in areas with globally distributed networks, requiring local data processing, or enhancing edge computing capabilities. Additionally, Bacalhau supports machine learning at the edge, making it perfect for applications demanding real-time insights and decision-making, like IoT, autonomous systems, and smart devices
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Try this product free for 30 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for each EC2 instance type you run Bacalhau on. Every dimension maps to a specific AWS instance size, so pricing scales with the compute you choose. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware bill at higher hourly rates than smaller ones. There are no tiers or upfront commitments here. You select instances that fit your workload, and charges accrue only while each instance runs. Bacalhau runs agents on these nodes to filter, transform, and route data at the source before it reaches downstream destinations.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one node running Bacalhau, and how does that map to hourly billing?
A node is any device running the Bacalhau agent, including cloud instances, on-prem servers, or edge devices. On AWS Marketplace, each running EC2 instance acts as one node. You are billed per hour for each instance type you launch, based on its size.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly software charges accrue only while an instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance does not generate software charges. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply while an instance is stopped, but the Bacalhau hourly meter counts running time only.
What drives my total cost when I run several different instance types at once?
Each running instance bills independently at its own hourly rate. Your total is the sum of all active instances for the hours they run. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware raise the total faster. Running many nodes at once increases cost proportionally.

All components are deployed with security best practices and can be customized through CloudFormation parameters.
CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."

CLI Access:
Get the public IP address of your orchestrator node
Use the CLI with --api-host flag: bacalhau [command] --api-host <orchestrator_ip>
Or set environment variable: export BACALHAU_API_HOST=<orchestrator_ip>
Web UI Access:
Access the web interface at: http://<orchestrator_ip>:8438
Replace <orchestrator_ip> with your orchestrator node's public IP address
