    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for a preconfigured MySQL on Ubuntu 22 image running on Amazon EC2. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, and your rate depends on which instance you launch. Options span many instance families, including general-purpose (m, t), compute-optimized (c), memory-optimized (r, x, z), storage-optimized (d, i), and accelerated computing (g, p, inf, trn). Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates because they provide more compute, memory, or storage. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and the software cost is billed per running hour.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

You get a preconfigured MySQL database on an Ubuntu 22 image, running on the Amazon EC2 instance type you pick. Each dimension maps to one instance type. The compute, memory, and storage you receive match that instance's specification. The software charge is added per running hour on top of the AWS infrastructure cost.
The software charge meters running hours only. When you stop the instance, the per-hour software rate stops accruing. Stored data on attached volumes may still incur AWS storage fees, but those are separate from the software charge. Restarting the instance resumes the hourly software billing.
Your rate is tied to the specific instance dimension you launch. Moving to a larger size within a family, or to a higher-capacity family, changes your hourly rate to that instance's rate. The change is not automatic; you choose the instance when you launch. You pay the new rate only for hours run on it.
