You pay by the hour for this hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 image, billed per EC2 instance type you run. The many dimensions are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific AWS instance size, so your rate scales with the compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity of the instance you choose. General-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU families are all covered. You select the instance that fits your workload, and hourly charges accrue only while it runs. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates than smaller ones in the same family.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software charge. You may still pay underlying AWS fees, such as storage for the attached volume, while the instance sits stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
What does one hourly unit cover, and what does the image include?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the selected type, billed per hour. The image is a security-hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 build with a web console and an AI assistant. Configurations align with common security and compliance frameworks. Your rate depends on the instance size you launch.
If I switch to a different instance type, how does my bill change?
You are billed at the hourly rate tied to whichever instance type is running at the time. Switching means stopping one instance and starting another, so charges follow the new type from that point. The change is manual — you choose the instance, and rates do not shift automatically.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
