The AWS Well-Architected Review is a structured service designed to evaluate and optimize cloud workloads, ensuring they align with AWS best practices for key operational areas. It begins with pre-review preparation where client documentation, such as architecture diagrams and security policies, is collected. This phase also involves providing the necessary AWS console access for the review.

The core of the service is an interactive review session where stakeholders work with AWS experts to assess their workloads in relation to five critical pillars: reliability, security, performance efficiency, operational excellence, and cost optimization. After the review, customers receive a comprehensive report with prioritized recommendations for improving their cloud architecture. This document helps identify risks and provides a detailed action plan for implementation. Follow-up reviews are encouraged periodically to ensure continuous alignment with evolving best practices and regulatory changes.
