Overview
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for CIS Level 1 security hardening, and Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel optimization.
Overview: Metabloc's Hardened Oracle Linux 9 provides an automated, security-hardened enterprise Linux baseline designed specifically for production AWS environments. Built on Oracle Linux 9 with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK), this pre-configured AMI removes the overhead of manual post-launch OS hardening while maintaining strict enterprise compliance. Technical Modifications and Baked-In Value: This AMI includes specific engineering customizations and system modifications applied directly to the image:
- CIS Benchmark and Security Controls: - Hardened baseline configurations aligned with CIS (Center for Internet Security) Level 1 benchmarks. - SELinux enforced out of the box with verified core policies. - SSH daemon secured: root login disabled, modern cipher suites enforced, and strict key-based authentication. - Unnecessary legacy network protocols disabled (DCCP, SCTP, RDS, TIPC) to minimize attack surfaces. - System auditd rules configured for administrative event tracking.
- Kernel and Cloud Architecture Tuning: - Built with Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) tuned specifically for memory scheduling. - Cloud-optimized sysctl parameters configured for high-throughput AWS virtualized networking (ENA) and virtual memory efficiency. - Pre-installed and verified AWS Cloud-Init routines for consistent orchestration across AWS VPC infrastructure.
- System Hygiene: - All build-time temporary logs, package manager caches, and installation keys have been purged to ensure a pristine, compliance-ready deployment.
Highlights
- Pre-configured to pull patches and updates directly from Oracle Linux repositories.
- Engineered for production environments, providing a lightweight footprint suitable for database workloads, middleware deployments, and cloud-native applications running on Oracle's databases and application stack.
- The image ships ready for production and development workloads including legacy application hosting and database migrations, with Oracle Linux's built-in cloud-native computing tools, virtualization, and automation capabilities.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
