Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 running on the AWS EC2 instance type you choose. Each dimension maps to one specific instance type, such as t3.nano, m5.xlarge, or larger metal instances. Pricing scales with the size and family of the instance you select. Smaller general-purpose instances cost less per hour, while compute-, memory-, storage-, and GPU-optimized families run higher. You are not locked into a fixed quantity or term. You run instances only as needed and pay for the hours you actually use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type named in the dimension. The hourly rate covers the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 software license and vendor support for that instance. You are billed per instance-hour for every instance you launch, counted separately for each running instance.
The hourly software charge applies only while an instance runs. Stopped instances stop accruing this Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 charge. You may still pay underlying AWS fees, such as storage for attached volumes, but the software meter counts running hours only.
Each instance type is its own dimension with its own hourly rate. Switching to a larger or different-family instance means you pay that dimension's rate for the hours it runs. Nothing is prorated across types. Your bill reflects the exact instance types you launch and the hours each runs.
