CommIOT is an all-in-one IOT platform providing a range of out of the box features that enable any business in any scale to connect and manage its devices in the cloud. It enables device connectivity via industry standard IoT protocols - MQTT and HTTPS.
Overview
Some of the main capabilities of the platform are:
- Secured connectivity
- Device management - the platform offers a versatile device management module, facilitating easy addition of devices for data collection. It supports diverse device types with customizable data structures and telemetry tags for streamlined analytics, allowing storage of detailed device properties, including custom attributes and information such as serial number, MAC address, location, and software version.
- Configuration management (shadow) - Define parameters to control and configure your device types.
- FOTA - with an easy and comprehensive wizard, reliably deliver software updates to the managed devices over the air, utilizing the AWS feature.
- Data visualization - visualize different types of data through configurable dashboards, whether telemetry, statistics, geolocation, metadata, filters, software updates, or other - both historical and current.
- Organization management - manage sites, locations or sub organizations in a hierarchical structure to assure data segregation between units and manage their data separately.
- Alerts and notifications - Rule Engine enables you to create complex rules that trigger actions based on data from your IoT devices. You can use the Rule Engine to create alerts, notifications, and other automated responses to events in real time.
- Roles & permissions - define custom roles to your tenant and select its permissions.
- Mobile application for end users - the mobile app is an optional component for end users. It allows users to manage their devices, control them over WIFI or BLE and it has white labeling options, allowing to customize the default branding.
Prerequisites: Customer IoT device firmware should communicate with the CommIOT platform using AWS IOT practices, featuring the following:
- Real time telemetry data stream from device to cloud requires an implementation of connection over MQTT protocol based on IOT core. The customer IoT device should support the IOT platform predefined MQTT topics per device type.

- Firmware Over-The-Air (OTA) updates using MQTT protocol with predefined topics and flow as described in https://docs.aws.amazon.com/iot/latest/developerguide/jobs-devices.html & https://docs.aws.amazon.com/freertos/latest/userguide/freertos-ota-dev.html
- The customer IoT device should support certificate-based authentication over MQTT Secure (MQTTs), ensuring secure and authenticated communication for the Internet of things (IoT) implementation. The certificate should be created and stored on device as part of its manufacture process. Device will get the Root certificate authority from AWS certificate with a private key.
Pricing guidelines:
- To purchase the IOT platform admin oversight and analytics package, you must purchase at least one IOT Platform License.
- To purchase the IOT platform customized application package, you must purchase at least one IOT Platform License and one IOT platform admin oversight and analytics package.

A device is any physical IOT unit you connect to the platform to collect data or send commands. Each connected unit counts as one toward your tier limit of 5,000, 20,000, 50,000, or 100,000 devices. You pick the tier matching how many devices you plan to connect.
You select one option from each of the three groups: a device connectivity license, an admin oversight and analytics tier, and a customized application tier. All three charges bill together. Your device count sets your connectivity cost, while your analytics and application choices add fixed charges based on the features you need.
The standard option gives you up to 5 BI widgets, 5 real time alert rules, and 5 device types. The advanced option raises these to 12 BI widgets, 12 real time alert rules, and 12 device types. You choose based on how many dashboards, alerts, and device categories you manage.
