Skovvy Well-Architected Framework Review (WAFR)

The AWS Well-Architected Framework is a set of best practices aimed at helping organizations design and operate workloads in the AWS cloud efficiently and securely. It focuses on six key pillars:

1. Operational Excellence – Ensures ongoing improvement in operations, including monitoring and incident management.
2. Security – Focuses on protecting data, managing access, and minimizing risks.
3. Reliability – Ensures systems can recover from failures and meet business requirements.
4. Performance Efficiency – Maximizes resource utilization and adapts to evolving demands.
5. Cost Optimization – Focuses on minimizing costs while maintaining performance.
6. Sustainability – Promotes the efficient use of resources to reduce environmental impact.

To support organizations in adhering to these best practices, AWS has developed the Well-Architected Review Partner Program. Skovvy is a certified AWS Partner, qualified to lead customers through the Well-Architected Review process using the AWS Well-Architected Tool.

The Skovvy Well-Architected Framework Review provides an in-depth evaluation of your workload against AWS best practices. Here’s an overview of the process:

• Introductory Call (30 minutes): The goal of this initial call is to confirm the workload's scope and clarify any prerequisites.
• What You Need to Provide:
  • Documentation: Any relevant design documents, including architecture diagrams.
  • AWS Account Access: Make sure you have the necessary access to the AWS accounts where the workload resides.
  • Whiteboard or Similar Tool: Optional, but useful for visualizing your architecture.

• Duration: 2-4 hours, conducted either virtually or in person.
• During the workshop, one of Skovvy’s Solution Architects will walk through the AWS Well-Architected Tool, assessing your workload’s alignment with the six pillars of the framework.
• Key Stakeholder Involvement: It's important to have relevant team members present for a comprehensive evaluation.

Following the review, Skovvy will provide a PDF report that details the findings:

• High-Risk and Medium-Risk issues identified during the assessment.
• Skovvy will also deliver a follow-up document outlining specific recommendations for addressing high-risk items.

• If you choose to collaborate with Skovvy to implement the suggested improvements, AWS will provide a $5,000 service credit once the remediations are completed.
• This credit is issued after the before and after reviews are submitted to AWS, and a short survey about your experience is completed.

The review process includes:

• 30-Minute Introductory Call
• 2-4 Hour Well-Architected Framework Review Meeting
• Well-Architected Framework Review Report (PDF)
• Recommendations for addressing high-risk issues
• Tech Lead Time to support remediation efforts
• Project Manager Time for oversight during remediation
• Follow-up Review Meeting to confirm improvements
• Submission of the Review to AWS
• AWS Credit Request for $5,000
