Each distinct metric your monitored environment reports counts as one unit toward your total. Your cost scales directly with how many unique metrics you track across your infrastructure and applications. There are no tiers or fixed instance sizes to choose from. As you add more monitored resources and the variety of collected metrics grows, your billable unit count rises accordingly.

A unique metric is a distinct data series your monitored environment reports, tracked by its cardinality. Each separate combination of a measured value and its identifying attributes counts as one. Examples include CPU usage per virtual machine or network throughput per host. Two hosts reporting the same metric type count as two unique metrics.

Monitoring across virtualization platforms, cloud services, storage, and network devices all add to the total. Removing monitored resources reduces the count of unique metrics stored.

This includes compute instances, databases, serverless functions, storage volumes, and object storage.
