You pay by the hour for the Rocky Linux 9.7 image, billed per running instance. Pricing is set by the EC2 instance type you choose, so each dimension maps to one instance size. Smaller general-purpose types like t3 and t2 sit at one end, while large memory, compute, storage, and accelerated types such as r8i, c8i, and GPU or high-performance families scale up from there. Rates rise with instance capacity. You add standard AWS infrastructure charges on top. The vendor's support and software update tooling comes bundled across all instance choices.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what am I actually paying for?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The charge covers the Rocky Linux 9.7 software image plus vendor support and update tooling. You pick one instance type per deployment, and its size sets the hourly rate.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A stopped instance stops accruing software charges. You may still pay standard AWS storage fees for the attached disk while it is stopped, but that is billed separately by AWS, not by the software rate.
Do I pay extra for operating system updates and security patches?
The image comes with the vendor's update tooling configured to keep the running system current at no added software charge. Update repositories are set up inside the image. The vendor also offers image customization and support by email if you need changes.
