You pay by the hour for the software running on an EC2 instance you select. Pricing is not tiered by features. Every dimension delivers the same self-service password reset portal. What changes is the compute size behind it. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, from small shared-CPU sizes to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-focused instances, including bare-metal options. The hourly rate scales with the instance's capacity. You choose the instance that fits your expected user load and budget, then pay only for the hours you run it.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit actually cover for billing?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. The software license and the portal run on that single instance. The instance type sets the compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity. You pay for each hour the instance runs, regardless of how many users reset passwords.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. If you stop the instance, the software license stops metering. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk may still apply while it is stopped. Restarting the instance resumes hourly software billing.
If we grow to more users, do we pay more per person?
No. Billing is per instance-hour, not per user. All domain users can log in, reset passwords, and search the directory without changing your bill. If your current instance cannot handle the load, you move to a larger instance type, which carries a different hourly rate.

Once you've deployed the EC2 instance, log in via RDP. To do this, navigate to Instances within the AWS console and select the newly created instance. From the menu options select Connect / RDP Client / Get Password
