Overview
DVPN:FoeHammer is a super simple and easy to use VPN server that you can host and manage.
Launch a new EC2 instance with the DVPN:FoeHammer AMI and once its started, attach a security group that allows traffic to UDP port 1194 and TCP port 22, and then use scp to copy the openvpn client config file.
For example 'scp -i <instance_pem> ubuntu@<instance_ip> client.ovpn .'

This VPN software is free to license. You pay only for the AWS EC2 instance you run it on, billed hourly. The pricing table lists hundreds of EC2 instance types, so your cost depends on the hardware you pick. Options range from small burstable instances to large compute, memory, storage, GPU, and bare-metal machines. Larger or more specialized instances carry a higher hourly rate. Choose an instance size that matches your traffic and performance needs. You can start, stop, or switch servers on demand, and hourly billing follows your actual usage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running AWS EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. The rate follows that instance's hardware size. Running two instances doubles the software's hourly meter. The meter counts running time only, so the instance type you launch sets your rate.
The software meters running hours. When you stop or terminate an instance, the hourly software charge stops for that server. Launching a replacement starts a new hourly charge at that instance type's rate. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes.
The instance type you select drives cost. Larger compute, memory, storage, GPU, or bare-metal instances carry a higher hourly rate than small burstable ones. Switching to a bigger instance raises your hourly meter; switching to a smaller one lowers it. Only running instances accrue charges.
