The t2, t3, and t3a families cover smaller, burstable workloads. The m5 family and its variants (m5a, m5d, m5n, m5dn, m5ad, m5zn) offer steady compute in sizes from large up to 24xlarge and bare-metal options. Larger instance sizes cost more per hour. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.

What does one hourly unit map to for billing?
Each dimension maps to one running EC2 instance of that type. You are billed per hour the instance runs. The instance size determines its CPU and memory. For example, a large size carries fewer resources than a 24xlarge or bare-metal option, and its hourly rate reflects that.
Am I charged when the FilePulse instance is stopped or powered off?
Software charges apply per hour the instance runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Underlying AWS storage or other resources may still incur separate AWS fees while stopped. The FilePulse license meters running instance-hours only.
Does file transfer volume or storage affect my hourly cost?
No. Under this hourly model, you pay only for the instance type and the hours it runs. Transfer volume and connected storage do not add separate charges here. Files stream directly to your own cloud storage backends, so your storage provider bills that usage independently.
